Blood testing

Blood tests

It is not always obvious how your body is functioning. You can look ok on the outside but what about inside? The body is very good at covering up imbalances and ill-health, but the blood provides us with a library of important information. Regular Blood Tests are a highly efficient way to identify any potential irregularities early on so you can track your health trends and respond to changes quickly and effectively, keeping your body in homeostasis – a balanced state of health.

Hormonal blood testing

A hormone blood test measures hormone levels to detect imbalances that may be causing symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, infertility, or mood swings. These tests evaluate key biomarkers—including thyroid, reproductive (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone), and stress hormones (cortisol)—to assess metabolic, reproductive, and overall health. Common tests include FSH, LH, and Oestradiol.

FAQs

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Please feel free to get in touch for further information on all treatments we offer.

  • Blood tests offer a detailed snapshot of what is happening inside your body. From vitamin and mineral levels to organ function and hormone balance, they provide valuable insight that cannot always be identified through symptoms alone.

Regular testing can help you monitor changes over time, track the effectiveness of lifestyle choices or treatments, and better understand your risk of long-term conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.

  • Most of our tests are clearly named to help guide your choice, such as Thyroid or Vitamin D blood tests. If you are looking for a more general overview of your health, a Well Man or Well Woman test is a good place to start.

  • Your appointment is designed to be simple, comfortable and informative. One of our experienced nurses will take a small blood sample from your arm and talk you through the process, ensuring you feel at ease throughout.

Appointments typically last around 20 minutes, giving you time to ask questions and understand what your test involves.

  • Your blood sample is analysed by NADLab, our trusted laboratory partner. Most results are available within 1–2 working days, although some specialised tests may take a little longer.

You will be notified by email and text when your results are ready to view in your secure online dashboard, allowing you to access your data at any time.

  • Preparation requirements depend on the test you choose. Some tests may require fasting for 10–14 hours beforehand, while certain hormonal tests need to be taken on specific days.

In general, we recommend staying well hydrated, keeping your arm warm before your appointment, and wearing loose-fitting clothing to allow easy access for your blood draw. Any specific preparation guidance will be provided at the time of booking.

  • Blood tests can provide insight into vitamin and mineral levels, cholesterol, organ function, thyroid health, infections and more. They also help monitor your risk of long-term conditions.

  • Appointments are typically scheduled for 20 minutes to allow time for both the blood draw and any questions you may have.

  • You can contact us at [email protected] or call 01422 329016 and our team will be happy to help.

  • In most cases, you should continue your normal routine so your results reflect your usual health. The exception is Biotin, which may affect some results, so we recommend stopping this a few days before testing.
