Rectal ozone insufflation is a therapeutic method used to support conditions affecting the colon and lower digestive tract, including colitis, ileitis, IBS, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, and other inflammatory disorders. The procedure involves the gentle insertion of a small catheter, approximately the width of a pencil, into the rectum, typically 3 to 4 inches, as comfortably tolerated by the patient. For privacy and discretion, the catheter may be self-inserted, after which a certified nurse administers ozone gas through the attached tubing at a controlled flow rate of 25 ml or 50 ml. The treatment is completely painless and allows ozone to be released directly into the lower intestines and rectum, where it can be absorbed into the bloodstream to support detoxification and overall systemic balance.
